Vanier Open Chess Tournament

Ennis Avenue is off Torbay Road in the East End of St. John’s – see map below.
All Primary and Elementary players (Grades K to 6) and Junior and Senior High School players are welcome.
- Primary (Gr K – 3)
- Elementary (Gr 4 – 6)
- Junior & Senior High
Five regular rounds plus possible tiebreakers – scholastic rated. In the Primary and Elementary sections, trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. “Best Performance” certificates for each grade as well as prizes to be drawn by name for each section. There will be cash prizes for the top three performances in the Junior & Senior High School Section, based on the number of participants. A canteen service will be provided with juice, chips and hot dogs.
9:30 am to 10:00 am (sharp)
$15 per player, payable at the door

All tournament participants must be supervised by a parent or designated guardian. Neither the Newfoundland and Labrador School Chess Association (NLSCA) nor the host school will be held responsible for the safety or behaviour of participants not actively engaged in tournament play. The responsibility of the tournament organizers will be limited to ensuring fair competition in accordance with NLSCA tournament rules.
