Mark Jackman Memorial Scholarship

At this time, the Family of the late Mark Jackman (Gonzaga Class 2014) announces the Mark Jackman Memorial Scholarship. After Mark’s tragic passing (May 6, 2015), the incredible support and love of Gonzaga and the community at large gave us some comfort. The overwhelming financial support from everyone for a scholarship in Mark’s name makes it possible to announce an annual $1000 Scholarship awarded to a Gonzaga graduate for post-secondary education at any accredited institution in the world. This will also connect the scholarship recipient to a lifetime mentoring program that will seek to have positive impact locally and abroad for years to come.
The winner will be chosen in the following manner:
Each teacher and varsity coach and Principal, VP and Guidance Counsellor will submit two nominees each (male or female) in private ballot to the Gonzaga office between May 15-31 each year. From that, the Top Five in votes will be considered in further deliberations between Gonzaga and the Jackman family before the final winner is chosen. The Scholarship award will be presented at the year end school assembly which this year is Thursday, June 23, 2016.
Criteria for selection:  Nominees will exhibit some or all of the features of Mark himself:
-high academic achievement
-a sense of humour
-the respect and love of peers
-a sense of social justice
-dynamic imaginative thinking
-well-roundedness such as musical abilities

The award winner has two years to use the funds or it is returned to the Jackman Trust which administers the Scholarship.

We are honored to leave this legacy gift in Mark’s name and look forward to awarding it annually and helping the winners in the years to come. Go Vikings!

Paul, Sandra and Lauren Jackman
