Senior Prom and Safe Grad Information for Parents/Guardians

The Senior Prom for the class of 2016 will take place on Friday April 22, 2016 at the Sheraton Hotel. The cost is $115 per ticket, which covers both the Prom and Safe Grad events:

6:00-7:00 pm.              Meet and Greet in the hotel lobby for students, parents, family, and friends

7:00-9:00 pm.              Buffet Dinner and Fun Awards for Level III students, dates, teachers, administrators, and invited guests.

9:00 pm -12:00 am.    Prom Dance, including girls and boys choice dances (Parents are welcome to return for the dance portion if they wish.)

12:00am- 6:00am       Safe Grad at Gonzaga High School

Prom Dance

At approximately 9:00 p.m. after the banquet concludes, parents/guardians are invited to the ballroom for the first two dances.  The girls will dance first with a partner of their choice (usually their father/guardian/family member), and then the boys will follow. To facilitate this process, a student seating arrangement chart will be posted outside the ballroom. With over 200 graduates and dates in the room, it may be challenging to locate students, so parents/guardians are advised to stand close to their graduate’s table along the perimeter of the room, so that students can find them quickly and easily.

The Sheraton Hotel has informed us that overnight accommodations will not be available to any student or their date on the night of the Prom and that any student who procures a room will be asked to vacate it.

 Dietary Concerns

Should any student have special dietary requirements for the prom, please contact one of the teacher members of the Prom Committee. Their names and e-mail addresses are listed at the end of this message under the contact information.

Important Note Regarding Alcohol and Drug Use at School Sponsored Events

The Senior Prom & Safe Grad have always proven to be very positive experiences.  We must remind all students that the use of alcohol or drugs is not permitted or tolerated at the Senior Prom or Safe Grad, nor at any school sponsored activity.  Any student found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to remain at the Prom/Safe Grad and parents or guardians will be contacted to pick up their sons or daughters immediately. The prom will be supervised from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am and the Safe Grad will be supervised from 12:00 am to 6:00 am.  It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to ensure that their children arrive safely at the Safe Grad. If your son/daughter will not be attending Safe Grad, we urge you to discuss his/her plans for the night. The safety and well-being of all of our students is our utmost concern.
