NOT MYSELF TODAY is a locally written pop musical about teen mental health issues, specifically anxiety and depression, performed by local teens. It’s POWERFUL, hopeful, insightful, relevant.
Written by Courtney Fowler, the story is not depressing in nature. Paige and Kate lighten everyone’s spirits as they try to help their friend Amanda navigate through everyday life dealing with “a demon in her brain”,Trista, who is a personification of depression and anxiety. Amanda’s friends notice a change in her and try to help. Amanda’s life takes a turn for the better once she finds the care she needs through the love of her family, doctors and friends.
NMT is suitable and relevant for all ages, & includes the music of Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, Phillip Phillips, Colbie Callait and more. The musical resolves with themes such as “we are stronger together”, “you are not your mental illness” and “you are not alone”.
The play is being performed at the Barbara Barrett Theatre, ACC, Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights @ 7:30, and 2pm on Saturday. Tickets are $10. It’s an all-ages 50 min show, but excellent for junior/senior high and their families.

I’m amazed, I have to admit. Seldom do I come across a blog that’s both equally educative and interesting, and without
a doubt, you’ve hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something that not enough folks are speaking intelligently about.
I am very happy I found this in my hunt for something concerning this.
