Newfoundland and Labrador Individual Chess Championship 2016-2017

Registration 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM (Sharp)
Sections:
(1)     Primary (K-G3)
(2)    Elementary (G4 to G6)
(3)    Junior High (G7 to G9)
(4)    High School (G10 to G12)
Awards:
Perpetual Individual Championship trophy for to winner in each of the sections.
Medals for top three places in each section.
Format:
5 rounds Swiss pairing with time controls of 25 min/5 second delay (per player).

Entry Fee:
$20.00 per player
 
There will be a canteen.
 
One half point bye may be requested per player for any round except the last round.  The request must be made in advance of pairings for the round.  Late comers will receive zero point byes for the rounds missed unless a bye was requested in advance.  Tie breaker games will be played on the clock with 10 minutes + 5 second delay per player.   In the event that a tie break game is drawn then the result will be decided by speed chess with 5 minutes per player.

All tournament participants must be supervised by a parent or designated guardian. Neither the Newfoundland and Labrador School Chess Association (NLSCA) nor the host school will be held responsible for the safety or behaviour of participants not actively engaged in tournament play. The responsibility of the tournament organizers will be limited to ensuring fair competition in accordance with NLSCA tournament rules.
