Bus Transportation and Midterm Exams

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As the result of concerns for the safety of students, we have taken the step of suspending a student transportation contractor for your school. We have not taken this action lightly as we know it has a significant impact on families and our busing system. However, the District could no longer permit service to continue without the confidence it is being provided in a safe manner for students.

The District does have a contingency plan in place to provide student transportation to those schools and routes impacted, though due to logistics this plan cannot be implemented until Monday, January 23, 2017. Schools will remain open for instruction. We ask impacted families to attempt to make their own transportation arrangements to school for the next two days.

We thoroughly apologize for the inconvenience we know this is going to cause families, however, we feel we have been left with no choice but to take these steps to maintain student safety.

Should you have questions about the specific operations for your school, please contact the school administration.

All the bus services at Gonzaga are impacted by this situation except for the Airport Heights bus (Route 09-039-1). This bus runs from Airport Heights Drive to Harbour View Avenue and will be operating as per regular schedule.

Midterm exams will now begin on Wednesday, January 25 and run until Wednesday, February 1st. The English exam listening component will not take place on Thursday, January 19 and will be rescheduled. The updated exam schedule is attached.

Regular classes will continue tomorrow, up to and including, Tuesday, January 24.
